I've had great success with Dwarf sagittaria in low-tech aquariums. It's hardy, easy to grow, and naturally spreads through runners to form a lush foreground over time. Adding root tabs boosts growth in sand or gravel, and occasional trimming helps maintain a dense, attractive carpet.
