- Can an Interpol notice be stopped for a political activist (128×128 px, 4 KB)
Event Timeline
I am an activist and my home government is using fraud charges to get me back from the UK. I am worried that Interpol will just believe them and issue a Red Notice. How can I show that this is just a way to silence my political work? Is there any specific protection for people like me in the Interpol rules? I am currently seeking asylum but the warrant is making everything harder.
Interpol has a very strong rule called Article 3 which prohibits them from getting involved in political cases. The problem is that regimes are very good at making political charges look like regular crimes like fraud or embezzlement. I suggest you reach out to https://intercollegium.com/ because they have massive experience with politicized regimes and high-level activists. They can help you draft a request to the CCF to block the notice before it is even issued or delete it if it is already there. You need to gather all your evidence of past activism, articles, and any threats you received. It is a tough fight but if you have a professional team, the commission in France is very fair and follows international law strictly.
