New hosted instances may not be created after June 1, 2021.

Existing instances will remain online indefinitely, but customers should expect very limited support after August 31, 2021.

All customers are encouraged to migrate to self-hosting, or to another software platform. Customers can contact support to export instance data.

Support Pacts

New support pacts may not be created after June 1, 2021.

Existing support pacts will stop billing after June 1, 2021. They will remain open indefinitely, but customers should expect very little support after August 31, 2021.

All customers are encouraged to migrate to another software platform.

Upstream

Phacility will nominally continue to maintain Phabricator, but it will no longer be regularly updated. There will be no way to request new features.

Evan, whatever you do next, I hope you're doing ok. Phabricator was life-changing software for me and my company. Thank you for everything you've done.

Ashamed I didn’t comment something in this vein.

Absolutely yes to all.

Evan, hope you’re doing alright.

Phabricator has made my life better at deviantART, Hitlist and Noom. Just by that alone I count hundreds of positively affected developers in their everyday, for months and years. Thank you for everything,

It's sad news but thanks for everything.

Thank you for everything you have done!

To be specific, will Phabricator continue to receive timely security updates if vulnerabilities are found?

So sad to hear this. Evan, over the years you've given truly outstanding support to our team here at Twitter, and you've made it a pleasure to use and develop Phabricator. Thanks so much for your dedication. Hope you're doing well, and wishing you the best in whatever comes next!

Thanks Evan and the team for this project and the amazing work you did.
Hope you're all doing well and maybe you'll explain publicly the reason for this choice.
In my opinion this is the best tool to fit to my needs, I love it and I will stay on it.
But we feel a bit like orphans now...

Indeed, this project defines a whole era for me.

Humongous thanks for the lesson in product management (and in PHP), thank you for the transparency of decision making.
Hooray to the witty, passionate and welcoming community around here.

So proud to see many values we shared here quietly become industry standard, inspiring others.

Aaand… any chance of a wind-down merchandise? The one-off logo stickers were super lovely.

@epriestley I hope you are doing well. It is clear that many here love phabricator and want to continue to use it. I do not know if you plan to continue to work on it at all or not. Either way, thank you for all the work you have done over the years.

If you plan to not do so, or do so only "en passant", may I suggest a transmission to a couple of trusted maintainers?

Thanks for your work maintaining Phabricator! At VyOS we've been using it almost since the project inception, and we do not plan to stop—we see no better alternative.

@deadalnix Indeed, I think all Phabricator users should come together and come up with a plan how to keep it alive. I hope it can be maintained under the Phabricator name. We are ready to contribute to that effort too.

Is anyone considering transfer to an established umbrella foundation like Free Software Conservancy, or is anyone considering a fork already?

Some discussion here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YxQ_JGdhWYPSdoaI_m1TLzwbGLZdtOD7ux2SVL263Ow/edit

And on this Zulip server: https://temp-community-phab.zulipchat.com

How much you need to support the team for one year?

Good luck Evan! You've made both using and contributing to Phabricator such a rare joy.

Thank you for the helpful feedback, fantastic memes, top notch beer company, and most of all, creating this forward thinking, truly kick ass piece of software.

Fantastic project over the years, sad to see the end of an era!

@epriestley, it must be a difficult decision to stop the development. Thanks for the great software, I have been using it on a daily base.

Anybody reading this can recommend any open source self hosted alternative? So to run repositories and code versioning, tasks, etc..

I'm not that technical and need to find an alternative for our small company.

Thanks,

Rolf

What about GitLab? Haven't used it, but should have you covered.

How are folks retaining information that folks rely on for history and context in Phabricator as you move to a new product offering?

I'm really sorry to hear about this and I hope you all are off to fulfilling things.
I'd love to keep in touch and buy you Phacility folks a drink if ever possible so feel free to reach out, you guys had a huge impact on me and I really appreciate it!
